A Happy New Year, Yatake-san!
How have you been doing?
For a couple of days I went to Kotobuki-cho in Yokohama where there are a lot of people who are in need of food/shelter/clothes etc.( some of them are homeless) to help them as a volunteer.
Those who are in the town are socially weak people, but they strive to live with dignity.Did your song go well?
Are you in Tokyo now?I hope this year will be fruitful & enjoyable for you and your family ! !
with love,
Mari

Dear Mari :
I wish you a very happy new year !
Thank you very much for your e-mail dated Jan. 1.
I am very pleased to tell you that I have been very fine these days and that my singing at my mother's home was liked by my mother and all the people living and working at the fascilities.I thank you very much that you cared so much about my singing at the home.
..................................
..................................By the way, I have to tell you that I began to load up all the past e-mails exchanged between you and me.
The reason of my loading up all these e-mails is as follows !
1. The number of e-mais exchanged between you and me has been
increasing sharply.
(.....Amazingly enough, could you imagine that 37 mails were
exchanged between us only for one month ?)2. If the number continues to incrase at the same rate, it will
surely cause some trouble to the Netscape blouser of my
computer.
(* Gee....I forgot the spelling of "blouser" or "blowser" ! )3. In order to avoid the above expected trouble, I have found that
I have to move all the e-mails from Netscape brouser into
some folder of my computer or, otherwise, at worst I have to
put them into Trash box and erase them.4. Accordingly, I checked all the contents of the e-mails in order
to decide what to do with them.5. While I was reading all these e-mails, I found that the e-mails
exchanged between you and me has been creating an atmosphere
of a kind of story or at least an atmosphere of conversation
between good friends, which gave me an idea of up-loading all
these e-mails onto my Home page instead of keeping them in a
folder of my computer or throwing them into TRAXH-BOX ! !6. I set forth the transaction of doing so right away.
I already loaded early part of the e-mail exchangement up to my
Home page.
Dear Mari :Would you please have an access to my Home page and check the content of the section : "E-mail exchanges with Mari ! " ?
And would you please inform me of your opinion right away ?
I like the section very much, because the content of it is very interesting to me.
But the content of the section has been very much concerned with your life too.Accordingly I think that I have to inquire about your opinion too, which made me send this e-mail to you !
Would you please let me know your opinion promptly after you check the content of the section ?
If you don't like the idea, I will draw it back right away.
Hoping you will like my idear,
With love,
Seikoh Yatake
PS.
Please allow me that I have made some little corrections of spelling, grammer or of context in both e-mails of mine and yours !
2000-01-03 (Mon) 19:44:13 +0900
Thank you for your mail !
I read the section of "Email Exchanges with Mari" and felt happy.
E-mails tend to be momentary letters which flow away soon after a receiver reads it.
But thanks to your idea, e-mails which you &I wrote were reborn as a record.
I don't mind the mails which we exchanged being read by other people at all.with love,
Mari

Dear Mari :
Thank you very much for your e-mail, and I am very pleased to learn that you like the idea too.
By the way, would you please send me some of your pictures you like best, when you HAVE TIME ?
Because...............I would like to use them for the " E-mail exchange" pages, and I am very sure that your charming pictures will make the pages more attractive to the readers !Hoping I can share this idea with you too,
with love

●............Yes. Of course !
I 'll pray so many times that you may recover soon !But.............shall we pray for each other ?
Because I've caught very bad cold already for 4 days !
That's why I've been very reluctant to do anything.Maybe someday I'll write about this bad cold in my
diary..................

●Thank you for your having sent me some specially selected pictures of yours already !

between us, and yet we have met only one hour yet.
2000-01-14 (Fri) 16:59:49 +0900Dear Mari:
Thank you very much for your letter and fine pictures.
I like those pictures you sent me very much and I would like to use them for my home page.
Maybe I think I shall be able to up-load the pictures on Tuesday next week.......Becuase I have to get digitalized file of your picture by using electronic SCANNER. ( I have to borrow the scanner at the art museum of the town ).As for your letter, I repeated reading it over and over again, because I was very happy to find that you are saying.........
" Really I came to know that LIVING is far more wonderful than I had been thinking ! ! "Mari,
I like this phrase very much.
Because I have lost my elder brother and youngest sister already !
..........The way I lost them was something unexpected ! !
......... My sister killed herself when she was 25 years old and 9 years later my brother killed himself at the age of 38 !However please do not feel sorry for me !
Because these things happened already many years ago !
If there is anything for you to please me now, it is the fact that you are living happy with your boy friend !
Sorry.......I've made you perplexed !O.K.
Forget it !I would like to write something different in the mext e-mail !
Hoping this mail will find you fine,With love.............

2000-01-14 (Fri) 17:27:03 +0900 (JST)Hi, Yatake-san!
I hope you've already recovered as I did. But if you haven't, please take good care of yourself.
I really hope your recovery....
The lectures & seminors which has started since last Tuesday will be over on the next Monday. In the following days I have to complete 5 papers.
I am just on the way to finish the first paper.
I've got to carry on!!
On the other hand, I have some papers to be filled in in order to apply to the scholarship of Rotary. I must search a university which is providing a suitable course for me. I am thinking of changing the major.
I haven't fully decided yet, but if posssible, I would like to study education because the wish to be a teacher and tell younger people the value of life, dignity of human beings, and love is getting more and more stronger these days.
I am young and must be lack of experience, but I would like to return what I have received from other people(and behind them there is God always,I believe,) during these 23 years by being a teacher.
Well, when everything is settled, I will write about it.
I have a date with Haru tomorrow.
He finished his final thesis lastSaturday. Happy man!
I have a part time job from now. Bye-bye!!with love,
Mari

2000-01-17 (Mon) 16:44:04 +0900 (JST)Thank you for your e-mail!
I do really hope you are completely fine now!
Yesterday I sat up late at night to prepare for today's class, and took an early train to go to school this morning. That means, SLEEEEEPY.zzzzz.Well, you said I am too warm-hearted to be a teacher.
Oh, you flattered me!
As a matter of fact, I had never thought of being a teacher before, but things made me change my mind.(although I havn't completely determined...)
I don't think to be a teacher is my vocation or calling or something like that, but I simply think it would be wonderful if I could be of any help to make children's eyes shine.
I might be idealistic, but I would like to keep my ideal....I would like to talk about it when I meet you! This morning it snowed a little even in Tokyo! Take care!
with love,
Mari
2000-01-18 (Tue) 16:08:07 +0900 (JST)I am writing this mail during a break of an extra class.

Dear Mari :I am very happy to inform you that I am feeling much better now !
The docter told me there is no need any more to have medicine !
・・・・This is probably because you and some other friends of mine sent
me very kind and nice mails, while I was ill with "Nasty cold".Thank you ! !
Hoping this mail will find you fine,
Best regards
Seikoh M.
P.S.
I think I can come back to my ordinary life style after tomorrow !
2000-01-24 (Mon) 15:50:18 +0900 (JST)I'm very happy to hear that you are feeling much better!
I went to Momozono church yesterday, and was given the energy to
launch to this week. I feel at home when I go to the church.
I like cozy, friendly atmosphere of Momozono church!I saw your home-page on which my picture appears.
The picture you chose is the one which Haru took when we had a day
trip to Hamamatsu last March. I was playing dipping my bare foot on icy
water. It reminds me of my happy days of the past although it
is not long ago & I am happy now.Well I have to complete one paper during this week although I haven't
prepared for it yet !
Please cross your fingers!
I am going to the library from now. bye-bye!with love,
Mari

Sorry !
I was late to send you a return mail.O.K.

I'm very happy that you liked my arranging your photo on my HP.
2000-01-27 (Thu) 18:06:48 +0900Dear Mari :
I'll be comming back to Nakano from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2 and I'll be
attending Sunday service on Jan. 30.
If you happen to be free Sunday morning, won't you come to the church ?
But if you have any schedule, of course you should carry on your schedule !Sorry I havn't been able to find enough time to write to you !
I have been filled up with miscelaneous (Is this correct spelling ?)
triffles these days......Gee, why do so many things happen to me one after another ?
Yesterday morning, a boiler tube supplying hot water was frozen because
of the low temparature of 15 degrees below zero !
I had to get in touch with the service man to have it repaired right away !Believing this mail will find you fine and charming as always,
Wih love
Seikoh Yatake
2000-01-28 (Fri) 12:44:23 +0900 (JST)Dearest Yatake-san!
Sorry, I haven't been able to write recently.
I have been incredibly busy of writing papers!
Ah! You are coming back to Nakano! I don't go back to Kamakura this
week-end because I have papers to do. So we can meet at the church?
Great! But unfortunately as I've got to go to a professors house to
hand the paper which I will have completed on Sunday(hopefully..)
immediately after the service, I may not have enough time to talk to
you...But anyway, I am looking forward to seeing your smiling face!
See you on Sunday!
with love,
Mari
2000-02-05 (Sat) 00:17:08 +0900
How are you?
Sorry, I couldn't write to you, for students are not permitted
to enter the college during the entrance examination.
Now I came back to Kamakura, and am writing to you!
I've completed two papers so far, and am getting down to the next one.
On the other hand, I am in the process of getting ready to apply
to the scholarship.Sometimes I see Haruaki, once or twice a week. Yesterday, I had a date with
him. We took a walk from Mita to Ohtemachi. Took a train there and went
to Nakano by Tozai line, and had dinner at my flat.It has been three weeks since I last came back to my home. I had dinneer
with my mother . No matterhow you look at it, home is the best place to relax.I am going to stay here for a couple of days (probably until Monday), so when
you write a mail, please send it to my home email address.with love,

●Sorry that I haven'to written to you neither !
I have been so much fed up with unpleasant unexpected freezing trouble
of the water supply system of the huette.......
( If you read my diary from Jan. 25 to Feb. 4, you will probably
understand the troubles I faced with ! )
Of course, I don't have troubles of this kind so often !
But nevertheless, we have those troubles once or twice every winter,
though they are not so vital as of this time.
Could you imagine the tempareture of 12 degrees below zero at 7 o'clock
of this morning ?

Yes !
In my case also.......although I spend most of my time at this Huette,
the happiest time of mine is the time I spend with my wife !
I love her of course.......she surely loves me........and.......we love
each other very much !
Wooooooops ! ! ! !
Sorry !

●I look at the HOME as in the way of singing the following words of the
famous song :
.....................Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam.
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like HOME !
A charm from the skies seems to hallow us there, which seek through the
world is never met with elsewhere .........
Home, home, sweet sweet home...........
...................
This is the words of my favourite song 「埴生の宿」!

2000-02-08 (Tue) 00:08:11 +0900Thank you for your mail!
On Saturday, a wonderful couple visited my home. Who do you think they
were?
The woman was Grace, who stayed at my home as an exchange student for
about six weeks 11 years ago.
She is from Malaysia. When she stayed at my home, she was a highschool
student.(I was a in a junior high.)
The man who accompanied her was her husband ! No one in my famirly knew
that she had got married !
She said there had been a difficulty to get married with him because he is
Indian-Malaysian (Grace is Chinese Malaysian), and her parents didn't agree
to their marriage. I hope some day in the near future, she can get their
understanding. Anyhow it was a big surprise ! ! We spent a really wonderful
time together. My family are all fine !
I am going back to Nakano tomorrow. But perhaps I will be back here again
this week end.with love ! !
your frined, Mari

Dear Mari :
Thank you for your mail !
I was pleased to know that you've got a nice international friend,
because friends are treasure we can never buy with money.
If I examine myself carefully, I am not very sure..................but
seemingly I regard that God is the most important existence in the
world...........................
............Then, next to God, my wife and my son are equally important
to me.
............Then friends may come next.............
............Then money may come next..............
It's true that money is very valuable and necessary thing to me.
However FAMILY and FRIENDS are much more important than MONEY to me,
because I regard that money should support my family's life and
friendship with my friends.
Sorry ! ....................Sounds like a teacher !
O.K. , Mari..............
I would like to stop writing here, because I have to finish a few things
before I go to bed.
Hoping this mail will find you fine,
From your friend, to my dear friend !
With love
Seikoh MIya
PS.
Until Mar. 15, I may not have time to write to you long, because I have
to finish tiring 青色申告.....................! !
2000-02-14 (Mon) 00:39:54 +0900 (JST)
I must have never sent an e-mail since last Sunday. Sorry! Even if you
have sent something to my school e-mail address, I haven't seen it yet.
A week passes so quickly!
What do you think am I doing now? I'm making cookies for tomorrow is St.
Valentine's Day! I'm going to give cookies instead of chocolates(I think
it is not neccessary to give chocolates..)to Haru. I'm going to his home
to hand it tomorrow for he's got a slight cold. He must have given someone's
cold for he has been doing his part-time job at a place where a lot of
people come. There was an election of the mayor in Fujisawa-city, and he
was in the place where the voting was held.
Poor boy!
I had my hair cut after the survice today. Perhaps you cannot recognize
me when we meet!
I think I can check e-mails on Tuesday at school, but after that,
perhaps I won't go to school until next Tuesday. I think I will be back here
again on Thursday or Friday, so if you kindly intend to send something to me,
will you send it to my home-address? I think it is better..
I hope you & all of your family are fine......
with love,
&
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!

Dear Mari :
Thank you for your mail !
I have so far been fine...............very busy though !
I'm sorry that I haven't written to you at all ever since I received the
final letter from you.
I was busy yesterday.
I am busy today.
I shall be busy tomorrow !
Gee !
It's already 1:30 am.
I'll be writing to you again when I can find time.
Hoping Haru will get well soon,
A. M.
P.S.
Mari, I met a very interesting person 2 days ago.
I'll let you know something about him someday.
2000-03-04 (Sat) 17:09:27 +0900
Dear Mari :
I am so sorry that I have not written to you for a long time.
I hope you have been fine.
I just finised to write an article for the revitalization of the town (
町興し) and I feel very relaxed now.
However I have to set forth to finish 青色申告 right away, because the
dead line is Mar. 15.
The biggest target of mine for this year is writing a book of 「空」
contained in the sutra 「般若心経」.
The book will consist of 13 chapters, 8 of which I have finised
already.
I have really been enjoying writing until now, but the trouble is that I
can not find enough time to continue writing these days, because I have
been requested to do many things for diversified targets.
By the way, I met a very interesting person last month.
He is a medical doctor in a small village nearby, but he is quite
different doctor compared with those working in big hospitals.
When you have time, please have an access to his page contained in this
HP by clicking 「高原の奇人・変人」. His name is Dr. Irohira.
People sometimes say that I am a different kind of man compared with men
of the same generation.
But Dr. Irohira is much more different kind of man than me, and yet he
is very sincere person.
I am sure that you can enjoy his writing.
Hoping this mail will find you fine and charming as usual,
May God will be with you always,
With love................

Long Time No See! I AM sorry not to have wirtten to you. It has been
almost 3 or 4 weeks since I checked e-mails by this computer.
As you hoped, I have been fairly fine these days. Thank you!
I submitted all papers last month, and now I am practicing driving!
I am going to a driving school at Musashikoganei. I've had driving
lessons for 8 times so far, and still feel nervous! But I think I am
improving little by little.
Sorry, I've got to go to the driving school from now to take a class of
traffic rules. I'm going back to Kamakura this weekend.
I was really glad to hear from you!
with love,
Mari
2000-04-17 (Mon) 19:50:13 +0900
Dearest Mari !
Nice to have heard from you !
First of all, I have to appologize that I havn't written to you for a
long time ........................
To make a long story short, I have been so bussy ever since I wrote to
you last.
............I had to do so many things to prepare for the NASTY
declaration for income tax ( 青色申告)for March 15.
When it was over, I had to prepare for receiving a new partner of my
half volunteer job, simply because my previous partner left the work on
March 16.
I received the new partner of mine in the beginning of this month, but
ever since then we have together been spending very bussy days.
I have really been very sorry to watch that the new partner of my job
has been spending busy days to learn new things from me and local
people.
However, she ( three years older than I ) has become used to the new
job to much extent now.
Meantime I had to co-operate with local people in carring out the
following activities...........
● To write a story about town people engaged in the revitalization
activities of the town (町興し活動).
● To think up some short sentences in English which should be printed
on T-shirts with the town symbol of Ptylitzas ( Ptylitza means Gnome in
the Gnomes' language)
● To set up all the preparations for the radio-controlled Yacht race
which will take place at Lake Matsubara on the comming May 7.
I have been really dead busy these days.
However there was one happy thing mean time, I happend to know a very
charming nurse at the dentist for my teeth.
Probably she may be in her forties........ she loves children and she
is very bright and frank with me like you ! !
If there is any chance in the future, I'd like to introduce you to
her.
I am sure that she can be a good friend with you !
By the way, did you get the driving license ?
If you did, please visit me at Matsubarako plateau with Haru !
When I am alone at the Huette, you can spend two nights, three nights
or even more, if you like !
........Sorry, my wife is calling me from down below for dinner.
I am back at Nakano now until next thursday.
Hoping we can exchange mails oftener
Sincerely yours................with love
Seikoh Yatake
P.S.
Ptylitza T-shirts will be ready by the end of this month, which all of
our staff will wear for the radio controlled Yacht race on May 7.
