2009-11-01 （日） 晴 仙了庵 気温（最低= 9℃、最高= 24℃）
今日は桃園教会の、年一回の永眠者墓前礼拝の日。
午前中はいつもの様に、教会で日曜礼拝を済ませた後、昼ごはんを教会で戴くと、西武線 小平駅より歩いて 10分程の所にある 霊園 『小平ふれあいパーク』で、午後 3 時より 墓前礼拝。・・・・・・この 『ふれあいパーク』に来る度にいつも思うことだけど、この霊園は墓地というよりも、文字通りの公園と言う雰囲気。 墓石も墓碑銘も、本当に思い思いのスタイルと文章が用いられている為、散歩をしてても楽しいくらいの明るい雰囲気で・・・・・・『ふれあいパーク』 とは素敵な命名をしたものだと思う。
墓前礼拝は、いつもの様にお祈りと牧師先生のお話で始まり、永眠者のご家族の皆さんの思い出話が紹介された後、讃美歌斉唱・参列者の皆さんのお祈り・献花へと進み、最後に牧師先生のお祈りがあって・・・・・・礼拝を終了。 あとは、それぞれの帰宅路に沿って、三々五々 の解散。
本当に静かな素敵な一日でした・・・・・・
2009-11-03 （火） 晴 仙了庵 気温（最低= 5℃、最高= 13℃）
今日は文化の日の休日の為、午後、コッチロと連れ立ってサイクリングに出掛ける。
途中、いつもの様に荻窪駅近くの太田黒公園に立ち寄ったら、どこぞの茶道グループが野点をやっていたので許可を貰って、写真を撮って来た。 僕にはよく分からないけど、なんかとても楽しそうな雰囲気でした。
2009-11-04 （水） 晴 仙了庵 気温（最低= ４℃、最高= 12℃）
午後11時。
今日は、物凄く疲れたので、ベッドに入って寝る事にする。
毎晩、午前3時とか4時とかに寝床に入る僕が、わが家で、真夜中前に寝床に入るなんて、もう、ここ何年もないことである。一体全体、何故、こんなに疲れたのか自分でも分からない・・・・・・でも、とても眠いので寝る事にします！
オヤスミナサイ！！
2009-11-05 （木） 晴 仙了庵 気温（最低＝ 8℃、最高＝ 16℃）
午後 TAC に出掛け、ひと泳ぎしたあと、いつもの様に行きつけの喫茶店に立ち寄った。
注文は、これもいつもの通りのアイスミルクティー。
僕がいつも貰ってくるのは、ミルクが１つに、ガムシロップが2つ。
プラスチックのトレーを両手で持って、客席の中に入って行くと、ラッキー！
・・・・・・・禁煙席の小さなテーブルがひとつ空いているじゃありませんか！僕がそのテーブルにトレーを置き、テーブルを挟んだ向かい側の椅子の上に水泳用具が入った小さなリュックサックを置き、手前の椅子に腰をおろして、あたりを見回すと、僕の右側の席で、テーブルの上に英語らしき横文字の本を置いて座っていた、白人の男性と目が合った。 アメリカ人だろうか？
瞬間、鼻立ちの整ったその男性は驚いたように僕の頭の上に視線を上げたが、すぐに視線を元に戻すと、可笑しそうに微笑んだ。
・・・・・・僕がいつも被っている Sailing cap に驚いたみたいだった。
その笑顔がとても明るかったので、僕は思わず３０歳代と思しきその男性に声を掛けた。
“Hi !”
“Hi !”
彼も屈託なく、挨拶を返して来たので、すかさず僕は彼に声を掛けた。
"American ?"
"No. Ｂｒｉｔｉｓｈ．．．．"
この答を切っ掛けに、我々2人の会話がはじまってしまった。
"Do you speak Japanese ?"
"No, I don't. Unfortunately!"
・・・・・ものの５分としないうちに、僕達はスッカリと打ち解け、その英国人が何ヶ月か前に日本にやって来て、日本の中をアチコチと歩き廻っているらしいことが分かった。
彼の話によると、もう何年かの間、中南米を歩き回り、その後、東南アジアの国を幾つか廻った後、最近、日本にやって来たらしい・・・・・・
すると、今度は彼の方から
"You speak good English !" と言って来たので
"Thank you ...... to some extent, though ! But I like languages." と返事をすると、彼は次々と色々なことを僕に聞いて来た。
"Where did you study English ?"
"I used to be a navigator before."
"I see. That's why you wear the cap、don't you ?."
"Partly yes......... partly no."
"What do you mean ?"
"Because this isn't the cap I used to wear at sea. This one would probably be a Sailing cap we wear for sailing yachtｓ....... I found it in Tokyo ....... American make, though. I paid 120 bucks for it ...... and usually I wear this cap simply because my fellow friends in Karaoke ....... do you know Karaoke ? (he nodded meaning yes) ..... they like me to wear this cap. And ........ "
ここで、その彼が可笑しそうに笑ったので
"Seikou is my name..... Nice to meet you."
と言って右手を差し出すと、かれも
”Call me George. Nice to meet you."
と言って、握手をしてくれました。我々２人は........(面倒臭いので、ここから先の今日の日記は英語に切り換えます！！！！）
We talked about many things !
The difference of our native tongues .......... Japanese and English.
When I told him, we Japanese have only word "Naku （鳴く）" for the variety of English verbs such as ...... how, bark, whine, sing, mew, moo, neigh, squeak, chirp, hoot, quack and so forth....... dependig upon the different species of the living things on earth ....., he was quite surprised.
We talked about the difference of British (Queen's English) and American English........., the time difference caused by the difference of longitude ......... the climate temperature difference caused by the difference of latitude........ etc. etc.
But when we talked about our hobbies and I told him that one of my hobbies is Math, George began to be talkative suddenly. He told me that his major was math.......... And then we talked about how the root formula was created for the quadratic equation, cube equation, biquadratic equation...... and evenutally when I told him that root formula for the 5th and higher power equation does not exist, he began to talk about French mathematician Galois and the group theory........
And moreover we talked about Laplace Transform including differential equations and evenmore about integral equqtions ........... and finally the relation between prime numbers and pi ! ! At that time, both of us were quite excited.....!!!!By this time, nearly one hour may have passed.........but still we continued our talking.
The next topic was about the difference of the four seasons in both countries.
But soon later, I encountered unexpectedly surprising information !
The story happened as follows..........When we began to talk about summer following our springs, I asked several questions about the length of the nights around summer solstice in England and ........ then...... I asked him the following question.
"Do you celebrate the summer solstice day ?"
He thought for some seconds, and then he said.......
"We call the day Midsummer, but the Midsummer in UK is a little complicated overall. In Scotlant they seem to have different feast practice, and again in Wales too. As for England, the history of the feast is seemingly much more complicated. I don't know the details, but anyway we may have a meandering history in the past, because I heard that once in the past some kind of the feast was banned. But today Traditional bonfires are lit in the area where the Stonehenge is located."
(Note: The today's conversation between us is not always accurate from word to word, because I didn't carry the recordng device. Accodingly please remember that I have been following just the outline of our talks !)
"I see ! By the way, did you ever hear the name of a person, Juhannus ?"
Again George kept silent for some seconds, and then he said.
"Yes. That's John, the Baptist."
As soon as I heard his words, I said to him in a louder voice as if jumping up from the chair.......
"What ? ........ Did you say, John the Baptisit ?"
"Yes, I did. Do you know him ?"
"Yes, I think I do. Do you mean that he is that John the Baptist who baptised Jesus Christ ?"
This time he was seemingly quite surprised.
"Are you a christian ?"
"Yes, I am. Baptised in 1982."
....... After this, we began to speak about John the Baptist and Christianity, and meantime I learned that Juhannus is maybe the Latin name of St. John and that Midsummer is called also "The feast of St. John the Baptist".
George then added
" St. John's Day, June 24th is the day celebrating the birth of John the Baptist."
"Oh, I see ! Now, everything is so clear ! Because the John the Baptisit was born 6 months earlier than Jesus. Everyone knows Jesus was born on Dec. 25. But John the Baptist was born 6 months earlier, which is precisely stated in the Gospel of St. Luke."
"Do yor read the Bible often ? You kwnow the story well.....", said George.
"Far from it ! I heppened to recall just that part of the New Testament, because I used to be a church school teacher once. At that time I told the story to the children once or twice. That's all."
"I see. By the way, do you ........."Just at that time his movile telephone rang, and he spoke a few words to the movile and then he said to me smiling,
"Mr. Yatake, it was really a great day for me ....... But now I have to meet one of my friends in Tokyo. He gave a call to remind me of the time of our meeting. I really enjoyed talking with you, and one thing I would like to stress is that you are the first Japanese who knew the relation between prime numbers and pi. "
"Thank you very much. I enjoyed talking with you so much too. O.K. Now George, listen ! Come back to Japan someday once again. Then ...... we can continue our conversation. Probably the God will arrange our meeting again ......"
"Yatake-san, I would like to continue talking with you. It's pity to leave you here now, but I will never forget you....... because you are so interesting and intelligent ! "
"Thank you, George ! You are more interesting and far more intelligent than me, because you knew the prime numbers/pi relation much better than I did. No...... I will never forget you too......and this great day! We may happen to meet each other somewhere on the earth again. It's NOT impossible entirely as far as we two live on the earth."
"The problem of probability, though." added George smiling.
" That's right....... , but never Zero."
We laughed shook hands tight and said "Good bye !"Just before he went out of the entrance, he looked back at me.
I lifted up my right hand to the peak of my cap and pretended to salute at him. He laughed, waved his hand at me and then disappeared into the evening street.What a coincidence !
And what a happy day !O.K. I will start to study about Juhannus (St. John's feast) from tommorrow !
2009-11-0６ （金） 晴 仙了庵 気温（最低= 8℃、最高= ２０℃）
眼が覚めたら、朝の5時半だった。
でも、 『もう少し寝ようかな？』 と思って、目をつぶったけど、ドウシチャッタンダロ？ 全然、眠くありません！
そこで、仕方なく、モソモソと起きて普段着に着替え、雨戸をソッと開けた後、階下に降りて耳をすましたけど、まだ誰も起きていない様子。暫くボンヤリしていたけど、何もする事が無いので、２階に上がりパソコンの前に座り、パチンとスイッチを入れてパソが立ち上がっあと、何気なく
『そうだ、たまにはアサイチ（朝一）で、今日の日記の一部分でも書いてみようかな？』と思い立ちキーボードを叩く事にした。主題は、いま少し前にキーボードで書いた 『仙了庵』 という名前について・・・・・・・
それでは・・・・・・
この高原日記を付け始めたのは 1997年9月だから、12年前の事になる。 それから今日に至る間、日記の冒頭にあるその日の日記をつけた場所は、松原湖のセカンドハウスのものは、終始 『ヒュッテ』 として統一されているが、都内の自宅で書いたものに就いては、『中野』、『都内』、『二合庵』 などと、何回か変ってきている。 その理由に就いては、使っているうちに何んとなく自分の心にしっくり来なくなった度に、変えて来たのであるが、一番新しいものは 『仙了庵』 となっている。
この 『仙了庵』 については、使い始めてから旬日を経ずして、旧友の一人より 『仙了庵』 とは、何の事だ？ ・・・・・・と問い合わせがあり、その理由を電話で伝えたら、『ナーンダ、ソンナ事カ・・・・・・？』 と言って笑っていたが、彼意外にも不審に思われた人がいるかも・・・・・・と思ったので、その命名の由来を今日の日記に書いておく事にしよう。先ず最初に、『仙了庵』 の 『仙了』 （センリョウ） とは何のことかと言うと・・・・・・それは、何の事はない・・・・・・お正月の頃になると家の中にかざられる、あの緑の葉っぱの上に赤い実がなっている、あのセンリョウ（千両）のことなのである。
ここで話は変わるが・・・・・・今から、もう、30年近くにもなるだろうか？
我が家の近くにあったデパートの お花売り場の前を通りかかった時、店先に紅い実をつけた、ヒョロヒョロとしたか細いたった一本の鉢植えのセンリョウが飾られていたのを見て、『・・・・・・ひょろひょろして淋しいセンリョウだけど、赤い実が奇麗だな！』 と思い、大枚 \ 1,500.- をはたいて買ってきたのが、そもそもの始まりである。
その千両は、帰宅後、早速、我が家の玄関前の地面に地植えにされたが、それから 30年後の現在、いつの間にか 下の写真の様に沢山の株に増えてしまったのである。
（2009-11-05 八岳晴耕撮影）毎年、今頃の時期になると、この千両達は・・・・・・ごらんの様に美しい赤い実を沢山付けてくれるのであるが、その有様が、とても美しいので、いま、この日記をつけている 『わが家』 に 『千両庵』 という いほり名 をつけようかな？・・・・・・と考えたけれど、わが家が億万長者ならイザ知らず・・・・・・この 『千両庵』 という名前が余りにも仰々しいので・・・・・・『センリョウ』 の音だけをとって、『仙了庵』 とした次第でアリンス！ ・・・・・・ハイ！！
